About
Meet the SLP
Rachel Imker, MA, CCC-SLP
I’m an experienced speech-language pathologist and the owner of Foothills Speech Therapy. For nearly 20 years, I’ve had the privilege of supporting the communication needs of children, and I believe that therapy should be both fun and functional. I specialize in evaluating and treating a wide range of communication challenges, including speech sound disorders (articulation and phonological processes), language delays and disorders, stuttering, and complex communication needs that require AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication). I also have extensive training in supporting children with social language difficulties and those recovering from brain injuries.
I was born and raised in Minnesota and earned my Bachelor of Science in Speech and Hearing Sciences from St. Cloud State University. I went on to complete my Master of Arts in Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of Minnesota, Duluth. Shortly after graduation, I moved west to begin my career, working in a variety of settings—early intervention programs, private practices, and schools—supporting children with a wide range of abilities and needs. My passion for supporting neurodiverse learners led me to pursue an additional certificate in Autism Spectrum Disorders from the University of Colorado, Denver.
I’m licensed by the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA), hold a Special Services Provider license through the Colorado Department of Education (CDE), and am certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). I’m also an active member of the Colorado Speech-Language-Hearing Association (CSHA), a Certified TouchChat Trainer, and a BrainSTEPS Consultant.
Outside of work, I love spending time outdoors with my husband and three children. We enjoy camping, skiing, hiking, and mountain biking together. When I can find the time, I also participate in triathlons and running trail races.
